Crested Oropendola (Psarocolius decumanus)

Crested Oropendola (Psarocolius decumanus)

Coyote Hills RP - Nectar Garden, CA 8/26/11.

The magnificent crow-sized bird is native to Panama and south, & Trinidad. Escapee or Storm-driven from a tropical disturbance? Looking at the photos, the tail is worn as a caged birds might be. With water and fruit, this bird will likely stick around: where else could it go? It stayed for a few days then disappeared, resighted in Pt. Richmond, eating melons a few days later- never to be heard from again.
